Vivid Vapors
Jenny Sohn DATA+Lab[Vivid Vapors] is a work that captures the vivid phenomenon of colorful smoke rising and intertwining in slow motion. The colors within the smoke start out intensely but exist only temporarily, gradually dispersing into the air and fading away. This emphasizes a momentary aesthetic experience.
The transience reveals how the beauty of color is created and disappears in an instant, shedding new light on the beauty of the ephemeral. At the same time, it explores the rise and fading of existence within that moment, addressing the sense of emptiness through sensory and aesthetic stimuli
After studying display (decorative and spatial design) and interior design (architectural design) in Paris, France, I gained diverse experiences in the design field. During this time, I recognized the importance of light (illumination) and currently work as a lighting designer, researching unique lighting solutions tailored to specific spaces. Additionally, I serve as an adjunct professor at Hongik University, teaching students the fundamentals of design and the importance of creative thinking. I plan to continue my research and artistic activities related to lighting in the future.
