This paper examines Julia Ducournau’s Titane (2021) with the aim of exploring the hybrid body of human and machine and the possibility of a new humanity. Drawing on Bakhtin’s concept of the grotesque, it analyzes how Alexia’s pregnant body transgresses the boundaries between human and non-human, while also attempting to deconstruct normative notions of motherhood.
