I THINK ABOUT THE ROMAN EMPIRE EVERY DAY

I THINK ABOUT THE ROMAN EMPIRE EVERY DAY is a media-archaeological poetry film responding to the 2023 viral trend that exposed an everyday male fascination with the Roman Empire. Moving beyond its humorous surface, the work traces Rome’s enduring role as a civilizational myth shaping law, architecture, social order, and imagination. Combining machinima, TikTok-style performance, TEMU readymades, 3D scans, and AI-generated sequences, the film juxtaposes playful digital reenactment with critical reflection. It examines how Rome’s legacy—romanticized, weaponized, or deconstructed—continues to frame ideals of civilization and power. Ultimately, it is a layered meditation on continuity and control, on modernity and myth.
