Virtual Environments Lab Youngho Chai Research is being conducted on a 3D sketch sheath that simultaneously realizes design and CAD in space. Recently, it was selected as one of the top 22 star labs in Korea in SW-based fields supported by the Information and Communication Technology Promotion Center (IITP) by proposing a spatial action-based multi-faceted interaction protocol that can be used for tracking all movements through global scanning. To ensure that the interaction protocol becomes the standard for complex space interaction, the Proxemic UI scheme standard UX is identified and presented through deep learning, and a wide range of application interaction sensing, interaction, and UI/UX APIs are being studied to make it easy for related researchers to use as a standard. He has two international patents (one registered, one application) and four domestic patents (three registered, one application) for this period, and has more than 50 domestic and foreign papers. In addition, a pen-type wireless position and posture tracking system for spatial input is being developed using a camera and an intrinsic measurement unit (MEMS IMU) MARG (Magnetic, Angular Rate, Gravity) sensor. https://blog.naver.com/velab
Visual Intelligence Lab Jong-Won Choi In Visual Intelligence Lab, we develop algorithms for image processing and visual information through the combination of computer vision technology and various machine learning techniques. Our research focuses on artificial intelligence core studies that can utilize machine learning and deep learning for unclassified data. We apply these technologies to various applications, such as animation, webtoons, movies, and improving the quality of cultural heritage digital assets, as well as research on deepfake detection. Our goal is to foster advanced researcher who can create their own architectures based on the principles behind machine learning, rather than simply running the given machine learning models. https://www.vilab.cau.ac.kr/
Media Art Digital Art and Technology Applications Lab Hyung Ki Kim The application of advanced media technology is spreading and sharpening. Digital technology is revolutionizing the art field and life as a whole. Even in lifestyle, advanced technology is required for the concept design that humans want. So we study applications based on advanced media. Through the development of advanced media objects or environmental sculptures such as art objects, three-dimensional image reproduction systems, and kinetic media objects (robots) using the characteristics and advantages of technology It's going forward. It's a place to create high-tech media concepts to design leading media productions https://unzi.net/
Future Media Art Lab Jin Wan Park In line with the rapidly changing media era, FMA LAB aims to produce commercial results by applying future-oriented new technologies to research new expressions of artists and applying them to works. By narrowing the distance between Art studies and Technology, FMA creates new content that has never been experienced before, giving each other the opportunity to use the latest technologies from basic training on programming to achieve the desired results. Produced works develop into papers, providing an opportunity to increase academic value in works. http://fma.cau.ac.kr/
Animation Art of Motion & 2D Trick film Lab Jae-woong Kim 2D animation theory, planning, and production are studied. The narrative structure of animation stories, popular culture, planning and marketing/producing theory, the technical and aesthetic meaning of modern formative art theory and new media, the analysis and interpretation of animation images, and the academic system of culture and arts education using animation are studied. (Multi-modal Sentiment Analysis) https://cauanimation.modoo.at/
Contents Producing & Character Animation LAB Tak-Hoon Kim The content production lab studies the production method for each production characteristic through case-study of the overall process of discovery, planning, and animation production of animation projects. We distribute produced animations at home and abroad, study the overall process from product planning to production and sales through licensing, and take the lead in animation-related marketing. https://taktoon.modoo.at/
Immersive Media/Animation Content Lab Wok-Sang Jang The Immersive Media/Animation Content Lab produces 3D animation content and immersive media content such as AR and VR using advanced technology. We are teaching content production and directing theory in parallel, through this, we want to develop the ability to create dynamic and experimental animation, the animation that values breathing with the audience, and the animation that captures both solid narrative structure and powerful directing. The goal is to develop and foster high-quality human resources in the 3D animation field, including directors, producers, artists, and educational personnel. https://blog.naver.com/w00ksang
CAD Lab Gyu-Hyun Kim Character Animation Lab (CAD Lab) is a place to produce and research animated works based on passion and innovative research in character animation and related fields. Our laboratory is actively conducting research and creative production activities in various fields such as Animating, Layout/Previs, Character Design, Storyboard, etc. to produce excellent results in the animation field. In addition, we are working on innovative technologies to develop efficient production pipelines and automate the animation production process.
